Binoculars

Binoculars

This is my new render in the shape of the old binoculars from my grandfather and found last month and thought it would be a nice object to improve my 3D modeling skills. I created the binoculars and the case including their materials in Cinema 4D. I switched to BodyPaint to generate proper UV Coordinates and paint some dust and scratches textures because I wanted everything to look worn out.

The lighting is also done in Cinema 4D. I used two spotlights and an infinite light to brighten everything a bit up.

Power Button

Power Button

This is a quick macro rendering of a LED-backlit metal power button. I created the model in Cinema 4D and rendered a normal map to create a proper pattern for the circular pattern. After I created the embossed power symbol with sub-polygon displacement I made a blurry reflective metal material for the button and a little bit dusty looking surface material. Everything is rendered with Cinema 4D's physical render engine.

Subway Station

Subway Station

My latest render pictures a subway station I have seen on a photo a few weeks ago. I decided to build everything from scratch in Cinema 4D and create a more appealing mood of lighting. I build almost all the textures by shaders and rendered the final scene with the new physical render engine in Cinema 4D R13.

The subway station is real. It's the Waterloo tube station located in Central London. My rendering shows the travelator between two underground lines.

Camera Sketch

Camera Sketch

This is a non-photorealistic rendering of my vintage camera model I created a while ago. I was always fascinated by the Sketch & Toon Cinema 4D NPR module but rarely used it. Now I have tried it, I'm very impressed by the possibilities to create almost every sketching style you can imagine. The number of parameters can be overwhelming at the beginning, but it is definitely worth the effort.

Coffee Table

Coffee Table

The last few weeks I've learned about polygon topology. There are many modeling tutorials on the internet, but almost all of them only show "how to do stuff" and "how to use software" but never "why to do". I did alot of research but didn't really found much of information about basic subdivision modeling and topology. Which is strange for me, because it's somehow essential. But it was enough to develop new skills.

I box-modeled the coffee pot with the newly learned techniques and thought it would be a great example scene to take the new physical render engine that is coming with Cinema 4D R13 for a test drive. I modeled some more things to decorate the scene and set up a nice and warm sunrise lighting. Here is the result.
